Holiday Craftoration #1 – Burlap Stocking

The holiday season is a perfect time to create moments with your children by teaching them how to decorate for the holidays. Take this a step further and help them create simple decorations – it just might become a holiday tradition. We have a few hand crafted decorations that will not break the bank and your kids will love them.

#1 Burlap Stocking

All you need is:

  • Burlap
  • Marker
  • Scissors
  • Twine

Our first “craftoration” is a burlap stocking. Burlap can be found at your local Farm and Home store or hobby shop. Farm and Home burlap will be a little cheaper than your hobby store.

Step 1:

Trace an existing stocking or draw one of your own design.

Step 2:

Cut out around traced stocking. Be careful not to pull any strains of burlap. Wait until you are done and you can trim the edges.

Step 3:

Repeat step 1 and 2.

Step 4:

Weave your two cut pieces of burlap using twine.. We found it best to use a pen or pencil to widen a hole in the burlap where you need to weave it through.

Step 5:

Create a handle with twine and hang your new burlap stocking wherever you feel best displays your child’s craftoration.
